`Paranormal Activity`, most profitable movie in US history?

London: `Paranormal Activity`, a low budget horror flick, is set to become the most profitable movie in the US history.The movie hailed as the new `Blair Witch Project` was made on a budget of just 6,500 pounds by first time director Oren Peli but has already grossed over 60 million pounds at the US Box Office.

Peli shot the film in his own house and the story follows a young couple who suspect spirits are haunting them at night, Sky News reported. "I started thinking that if I had a good idea, maybe I could just buy a video camera and shoot a movie and see how it turns out," Peli said. The director admits that though he was "inspired" by films made on a low budget like `The Blair Witch Project` and `Open Water`, "there are elements that are unique and original". Earlier, for the marketing of the movie, a viral advertisement was posted on the Internet, promising the film would only get released nationwide if one million people signed up. `Paranormal Activity` had also grabbed headlines when filmmaker Steven Spielberg said he was `spooked out` at his home while watching it.
