Madrid: The production of cars and other vehicles in Spain dropped by 16.6 percent during 2012 to 1,979,000 units, the Spanish Association of Car Manufacturers, Anfac reported.
This fall came despite a 7 percent rise in production in December when compared with the same month in 2011, with 118,569 units being produced, reported Xinhua.
The production of family cars fell by 16.28 percent during last year to 1,539,000 cars, although December also saw a rise of 12.23 percent with 92,255 cars produced.
The final month of the year was also positive in terms of exports which increased by 9.41 percent to 105,912 units. However, 2012 as a whole saw a fall of 18.48 percent in exports in annual terms.
