Cannes: A space trip with Hollywood hunk Leonardo DiCaprio raised USD 1.5 million at the Cannes film festival charity auction.
The winning bidder at the AmFAR Cinema Against AIDS gala will be accompanied by `The Great Gatsby` star on a Virgin Galactic flight into space. The fan will also get a chance to spend three days in training with DiCaprio in New Mexico before the trip.
A second pair of seats on the same flight sold to another bidder for USD 2.3 million, reported E!News.
A USD 2.3 million bidder won a package that included two tickets to the premiere and afterparty of DiCaprio`s upcoming drama `Wolf on Wall Street` and an Oscar weekend that includes a room at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a Chopard watch, tickets to the Weinstein party and attending Elton John`s annual viewing bash and Vanity Fair`s party with Heidi Klum.
Adrien Brody auctioned off his own Bulgari watch for about USD 116,000.
The gala, celebrating its 20th anniversary was attended by jury members Nicole Kidman and Christoph Waltz, Jessica Chastain, Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum, Goldie Hawn, Janet Jackson, Brody and Sharon Stone among others.
The event, first hosted by Elizabeth Taylor in 1993, collected USD 32.3 million compared to last year`s USD 14.2 million.
The other items that were sold included art pieces by Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst and a family portrait by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.
