Review: ‘Tere Mere Phere’ is a tedious affair!

Actually, Deepa Sahi’s ‘Tere Mere Phere’ has nothing much to offer. Revolving around the trial and tribulations of lovers, interspersed with some lighthearted moments, ‘Tere Mere Phere’ is an average film with an average script and average performances. Starring Vinay Pathak, Riya Sen, Sasha Goradia, Jagrat Desai, Darshan Jariwala and Sushmita Mukherjee, ‘Tere Mere Phere’ revolves around the institution of marriage. On a flight to Shimla, when newlyweds Rahul (Jagrat) and Pooja (Sasha) end up fighting with each other, Jai (Vinay) faces the music as the flight returns back due to the warring couple’s crazy antics. Jai, who wants to save his beloved Muskaan (Ria) from entering a forced marriage and convince her orthodox parents finally takes up the road journey to Shimla with Rahul and Pooja. Predictability is written all over the film. In fact, the first few minutes are enough to make you understand the nature of the film and its future course of action. Rahul and Pooja’s fight at times becomes annoying. The only saving grace of the film is Vinay Pathak, whose comic timings keep you interested in the film. Riya Sen hardly gets to showcase her talent as she does not have a full fledged role. Add to this, a pedestrian script and ordinary screenplay leaves no scope for the film to recover at the Box Office. The only thing worth mentioning about the film is its cinematography, which makes an exquisite use of the scenic locales of Himachal Pradesh. In all, Deepa Sahi’s ‘Tere Mere Phere’ lacks everything which a good film requires to hit the marquee. It is amateurish and half baked. The film has lot of loose ends and at times, looks heading nowhere. It feels sad to see such a talented actor like Vinay Pathak struggling to get his act right in a project which is crowded by so many average performers. Ratings: One poor cheer for this one!
