Beijing: The US International Trade Commission has launched two probes over patent infringement in portable electronic devices, mobile handsets and touch keyboard software made by Chinese makers.
The first investigation is based on a complaint filed by Speculative Product Design of Mountain View, California, the China Daily reported.
The US commission identified seven respondents in the investigation, including Shengda Huanqiu Shijie of Shenzhen and Global Digital Star Industry Ltd.
The second investigation involves smartphones and touch keyboard software that permits a user to input information with increased speed or accuracy.
The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Nuance Communications Inc, Swype Inc, Tegic Communications Inc, and ZI Corporation of Canada Inc, all based in Burlington, Massachusetts, the daily said.
The commission identified two respondents in the second case -- Shanghai HanXiang (Coo Tek) Information Technology Co. Ltd. and Personal Communications Devices, LLC.
The commission said it will make a final determination in the investigation at the earliest practicable time.
