Mumbai: Grand celebrations are on the way for the film industry as it celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has planned a documentary called ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ to commemorate the centenary of Indian Cinema. Needless to say, the original ‘Sheila’, Katrina Kaif will be a part of Zoya’s film.
However, the film will not be about the item song but will capture the glamour obsession that the film industry has and how it plays an integral part of movie making.
Speaking to a daily, a source said, “The docu-film is actually Zoya`s tribute to the Bollywood style of filmmaking and traces its evolvement since its inception to present times when the Hindi film world has become the biggest cinema industry in the whole world. The filmmaker believes ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’ encompasses the essence of glamour that drives mainstream Hindi films, hence the title of her documentary.”
The documentary will narrate a story of a young boy and his obsession with the song `Sheila ki jawaani`. The film will narrate the tales of all the popular item numbers and how glamorized songs have become over the century.
Buzz has it that Zoya might re shoot the ‘Sheila’ number in her own way with Katrina. While there has been no word from Zoya, Farhan Akhtar and Katrina have confirmed that they will be a part of the documentary. Both actors had worked previously in Zoya’s multi starrer ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’.
