Mumbai: Deepika Padukone’s look at Cannes has been the talk-of-the-town ever since she descended on the red carpet wearing an ethnic saree. The gorgeous beauty somewhat looked like her character ‘Shanti’ of ‘Om Shanti Om’ as she waved at the crowd and the photogs. Her body language reminded one of her histrionics in ‘Aankhon Mein Teri’ song sequence. And it seemed very evident that the actress had done a very good homework to score over her strong rival on the red carpet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Latest news has it that Deepika had come fully prepared to give tough competition to Cannes’ favourite Indian face, Ash. Sources reveal that she had enquired about Ash’s dress and planned her look accordingly. When asked about her reaction to Ash’s dress sense, the beauty said, “I wouldn’t like to comment on others.” However she gave her reason as to why she chose saree over others. “When I started modelling, I promised myself that whenever I attend an international event, I’d wear a saree and not western clothes. I get enough opportunities at home to wear western clothes. When I’m seen at an international event I’d rather be fully Indian,” she said. Talking about Cannes, the beauty said, “There’s so much to Cannes besides the festival,” she said. “The first time I came here was in 2002. Not for the festival but as a tourist. And I remember standing outside the venue and taking pictures. I had promised myself that next time... I’d be back as part of the film festival... and here I am.” Well, with your immaculate planning, you are sure to go a long way Dips!
