Research in Motion is all set to licence its much-awaited BlackBerry 10 operating system to other manufacturers, according to media reports on Monday.
Chief Executive Officer Thorsten Heins stated that the new OS is in its final stages of testing and RIM is working to make other companies use it in a range of products.
Heins also stated that the platform can be licenced.
RIM-owned BlackBerry devices have lost their sheen to tech rivals Apple iPhones and Google Android-based smartphones. With the new OS, BlackBerry is ready to launch the new devices in the first quarter of 2013 which will run the next OS offering from RIM.
