Virginia Madsen to play criminal mom

Virginia will play the lead role in ABC`s comedic drama series ‘Scoundrels.’

Los Angeles: Virginia Madsen will play the lead role in ABC`s comedic drama series ‘Scoundrels,’ which is set for an eight-episode run in the summer.Based on the New Zealand series ‘Outrageous Fortune,’ it centers on the matriarch (Madsen) of a family of criminals who decides that it`s time for her brood to go straight after her husband is sentenced to a long prison term.

Catherine O`Hara played the role in ABC`s first attempt to remake the series, the 2008 pilot ‘Good Behavior.’ Madsen, who received an Oscar nomination five years ago for her supporting role in ‘Sideways,’ recently had a recurring role on the final season of ‘Monk.’ Bureau Report
