Bhopal: Telecom major BSNL has chalked out a plan to replace the PCOs with new generation VCOs (video call offices).

"The VCOs will provide the facility of making a video call at an affordable rate and connect people to their near and dear ones in a live manner," BSNL MP circle's senior general manager Prabhash Singh and Bhopal circle general manager Mahesh Shukla told reporters on the occasion of 'BSNL Day' on Monday.

The service was launched by BSNL recently in the state and at present 35 people have activated the facility at their homes and business places.

The facility needs a dedicated broadband connection and a special instrument being provided by the SIS Info System, Singh said.

The VCO facility will be available in 34 districts of Madhya Pradesh.

The service has already been launched in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

For a 45 second pulse of a video call, the operator will charge Rs 3 from the customer, he said.
