The project is likely to be completed in 2012-13, BSNL Chief General Manager, Ambala, G K Upadhyay, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Tuesday, said.Chandigarh: Telecom services provider BSNL is in the process of adding 8 lakh new Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) lines in Faridabad, Gurgaon, Rohtak and Sonepat to meet the growing demand of telephones in Haryana.

The project is likely to be completed in 2012-13, BSNL Chief General Manager, Ambala, G K Upadhyay, who called on Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here on Tuesday, said.

Upadhyay apprised the Chief Minister that Haryana telecom circle caters to a population of over 2.56 crore.

There are more than 2.33 crore telecom connections in the state and those of BSNL are over 35.42 lakh.

Upadhyay said BSNL has a landline network of over 5.35 lakh connections in the state, which included 3.54 lakh connections in urban areas and over 1.80 lakh connections in rural areas.
