Javed Akhtar, Jagjit Singh call on Sonia

Javed Akhtar, Jagjit Singh and Shankar Mahadevan have met Sonia Gandhi.

New Delhi: Veteran musician Pandit Ravi Shankar, lyricist Javed Akhtar, ghazal singer Jagjit Singh and composer-singer Shankar Mahadevan met Congress president Sonia Gandhi here Thursday morning. Congress sources described the meeting as "a courtesy call". They did not divulge details of the meeting.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of an escalating controversy over Shiv Sena`s threats to stop the release of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan`s film "My Name Is Khan" following his remarks in favour of the participation of Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League. IANS
