`Dhobi Ghat` captures multiple cities within Mumbai: Kiran

Mumbai: Debutante director Kiran Rao says she wrote the screenplay of `Dhobi Ghat` with the idea of capturing the multiple cities which exist within Mumbai.

"To get under the layers of the city, I armed my characters with different lenses and tools - an old Leica M6 still camera, an amateur video camera, a canvas and paints - to be able to explore the city through their individual perspectives," Kiran said about the making of her movie produced by husband Aamir Khan. According to her, the multiple formats helped her build multiplicity of experience and perception, get varying visual textures and also allowed her to have more fun playing with different mediums. The film which releases on January 21 stars Aamir Khan, Prateik Babbar and two debutante leading ladies. PTI
