Mariah Carey sued over `stolen` duet lyrics

Mariah Carey and rapper The-Dream are being sued by a duo of musicians.

London: Pop star Mariah Carey and rapper The-Dream are being sued by a duo of musicians alleging that the lyrics to the stars` new duet `My Love` was stolen from them. Preston Marshall and Demario Driver have filed a lawsuit against the singers and record label Island Def Jam for copyright infringement, seeking USD 450,000 in damages, according to a news daily.
The producers claim they emailed their song `Are You The One` to music executive Jeff Huffman in 2008 only to hear a version of it on The-Dream`s album `Love vs. Money` the following year. "I sent the song to (Huffman) via email. I never heard back from him. After hearing the song on The-Dream`s album I was hurt because you put a lot of time and effort into this. You know, music is my life. I feed my family this way," said Marshall. The-Dream has previously spoken about composing the track, revealing he wrote its lyrics with Carey in mind. PTI
