Mumbai: Security products and solutions provider Micro Technologies on Wednesday launched a new surveillance and detection device which aims to provide citizens a higher level of vigil and security.

The device -- Micro Eye -- was launched by former Mayor of Beverly Hills (California, US) Jimmy Delshad at a function here.

It offers both security and surveillance in one unit with in-built hardware like night vision cameras, digital video recorder, gas and fire sensors, smoke detector and door and remote sensors, the company said.

"Mumbai, like other major cities in the world, is truly a melting pot and security is of prime concern of not only the government but also of all people. Micro Eye will go a long way in curbing crimes and promoting safe and secure environment," Delshad said.

Micro Eye is designed to meet a variety of security concerns and provide adequate safeguards to people and property, Micro Technologies (India) Ltd Chief Strategic Officer Aditya Sekhar said.

The device, with web-based applications, allows a registered user (individual and organisations) to log in with their details and can monitor several of their offices from a single location.

It can detect motion and then notify the registered user instantly via SMS or email or both in case of intrusion or any untoward incident such as a gas leak or a fire break-out.
