Narendra Modi still most trending candidate on twitter

Narendra Modi is leading the twitter 'trending candidates' with 55.9 percent.

New Delhi: BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi still retains top slot with a huge margin in the list of most trending candidates on micro-blogging site twitter while the polling is underway in 64 parliamentary constituencies spread across seven states in the eight phase of Lok Sabha polls 2014 on Wednesday.

Narendra Modi is leading the twitter 'trending candidates' with 55.9 percent, followed by AAP Lok Sabha candidate from Amethi Dr. Kumar Vishwas (12.8 percent), AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal (7.7 percent), Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi (9.0 percent), Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (2.1 percent) and Congress leader Digvijay Singh (1.6 percent).

The most twitter 'trending topics' are Secularism, Women Security, Gujarat development, black money and communalism among others.

The app has been specifically developed for the elections that runs off android tabs/phones.

The app looks at twitter conversations in real time and figures the sentiment of users with regards to political leaders, parties and issues.
