IPL case has been over-politicised: Shilpa Shetty

Actress Shilpa Shetty, who is the co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajasthan Royals team, Tuesday said the IPL case had been "over-politicised" and that IPL commissioner Lalit Modi should not be judged guilty until proven so.

Mumbai: Actress Shilpa Shetty, who is the co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) Rajasthan Royals team, Tuesday said the IPL case had been "over-politicised" and that IPL commissioner Lalit Modi should not be judged guilty until proven so.
"I don`t want to be rude or curt, I just want to say that it is an IT probe and not a media probe. I think things have been over-politicised," Shilpa told reporters. "I know that`s a word we too conveniently use to get out of a situation, but it is true in this case and in the current scenario," she said. "I really don`t want to say anything, as we just came as investors in the second year and everything seemed perfectly fine and it still is. As far as RR is concerned, Rajasthan Royals board is completely above board and that`s what I would like to maintain," she added. The actress said Lalit Modi is yet to be proven guilty. "I would also like to say that till you are proven guilty, you are not guilty. You have to appreciate the fact that IPL has brought lots of name and revenue to this country. And I think Lalit Modi has done a great job. If there is something murky and there is proof, then let the law take its course and legal action must be taken but as of now let`s not jump the gun," Shilpa said. IANS
