Wendell Rodricks to set tone for New Year partying in Goa

Wendell is all set to recreate the nostalgic charm of the pervasive hippie era of Goa by `blending` them with his collection.

Panaji: Fashion designer Wendell Rodricks is all set to recreate the nostalgic charm of the sizzling sands and once pervasive hippie era of Goa by `blending` them with his collection of myriad hues tomorrow.
Rodricks, who will be unveiling the `Blender`s Pride Magical Night Tour`, told reporters today that he wanted to rekindle the rock-n-roll genre of 1960s and 70s when the serene beaches were often used to throw splendid and overnight bashes coupled with jam sessions. "The collection is a reflection of the rock decadence of a very special period. Infusing the collection with high voltage energy is a palette of whites, blues, magenta and black in variety of cottons, linen and silk," he said. Actress Neha Dhupia, along with 20-odd models will walk the ramp tomorrow evening taking the audience down the memory lane. Referring to the collection on display tomorrow, Rodricks said he has not used minis of 60s for the show. "It`s long, oversized almost, he said. "I do recall pristine Goa and walking on Calangute beach. Baga beach was a hippie nudist colony at that time," Rodricks said. "Till 1980s, Calangute beach had white sand but now its all red you can see. It`s no more white," said Rodricks, who hails from Colvale village in North Goa district. He asserted that the event would set a partying tone ahead of the New Year celebrations. PTI
