Taiwanese firms to make 'Aakash 2' more successful

New Delhi: The Indian Institutes of Technology, co-developer of the “Aakash” tablet has invited Taiwanese partners for setting up facilities to speed up the delivery process of the upgraded version of the tablet.

Taiwanese firms may set up manufacturing plants here to assemble the tablets, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), associated with the Aakash project, said.

Taiwanese firms have made 10 to 20 percent of components for the first model of the  Aakash 1.

The Indian Institutes of Technology also wants to expand collaboration with the Taiwanese firms for the Aakash 2 so as to make the tablet more efficient.

Meanwhile, makers of Aakash tablet, Datawind is ready with their new tablet Ubislate 7+ at an expected price of Rs 2999. Unlike Aakash (Ubislate7) which is a student version tab, Ubislate 7+ will be available everywhere and to everyone.

The upgraded version of Aakash, Ubislate 7+ tab will be available in the Indian market by last week of January, 2012.
