Beyonce Knowles was paid a whopping USD 2 mn for an hour-long performance!

London: American superstar Beyonce Knowles was paid a whopping USD 2 million for her hour-long performance at the secret party thrown by Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi`s son Mutasim-Billah on New Year`s Eve. The 28-year-old dressed in a sparkly leotard for the private party in the Caribbean island of St Barts where she sang and danced in front of a select audience including her husband rap mogul Jay-Z, reported a news website.

As the first photos of the private bash were published on Friday, it was made clear that it was Billah, Gaddafi`s third son and not his brother Hannibal who hosted the party, as claimed by earlier reports. Billah, a national security adviser for Libya, smoked cigarettes, drank and laughed with his guests. Knowles has been slammed for choosing to perform for the son of such a controversial figure and has also upset relatives of the Lockerbie bomb victims. In 2003, Gaddafi admitted Libya was responsible for bringing down Pan Am Flight 103 en route to New York in 1988, killing 270 people. The report about her giant paycheque comes in wake of the news that the R&B star and Jay-Z are the highest earning couple in Hollywood. PTI
