Twitter slammed after refusing to pay in fight against child porn
London: Twitter has been reportedly slammed for resisting request of an increase of 5,000 pounds in contribution to fight against child porn on the internet.

The microblogging site was asked to raise the sum to 75,000 pounds but it disputed the amount and wanted clarification over why it had to pay the sum to Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) and if it was calculated in relation to users.

Sources said that Twitter thinks Facebook should also pay much more than it has.

Government online child safety advisor John Carr said that Twitter is paying only 5,000 pounds to the IWF adding that Twitter did not only grumble about the paltry fees but also is reluctant about the new fee structure being discussed.

According to metro.co.uk, search giant Google has said that it will give 1million pounds to the IWF, while Sky, BT, Virgin and other companies that offer online services have pledged 1million pounds combined.

Twitter is expected to be worth around 7billion pounds when it goes public next month.
