Cheryl tops single chart with `Promise This`

Cheryl leapt to the top of the charts with 'Promise This'.

Los Angeles: Cheryl Cole leapt to the top of the charts with "Promise This", her second number one solo single, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.
The singer sold 157,000 copies, giving her the highest first-week sales of 2010 for a non-charity single. U.S.-based singer Rihanna`s "Only Girl (In The World)" shot straight in at number two, the company said. Charity track "Everybody Hurts" by Helping Haiti, in aid of Haiti`s earthquake victims, shifted 453,000 copies in one week earlier this year. U.S. rapper Nelly`s "Just A Dream" was the only other new entry in the Singles Chart Top 10, coming in at number eight from last week`s 11. In the album`s chart, rock quartet Kings Of Leon clung to the top spot with "Come Around Sundown". Canadian singer Michael Buble climbed to second place in the charts with "Crazy Love", while last year`s X Factor winner Joe McElderry climbed to number three with his debut album "Wide Awake".
