New Delhi: Mobile TV service provider Zenga TV on Wednesday said it expects to double its user base to 15 million in the next one year on the back of strong uptake of smartphones and increasing mobile data usage in the country.
"The number of smartphone users is growing phenomenally and so is the data usage. We are expecting 100 percent growth in next one year (July 2013) and our user base should touch 15 million users," Zenga TV CEO Abhishek Joshi said.
Joshi has recently joined Zenga TV from Sony Entertainment Channel, where he was serving as the Associate Vice-President (Marketing).
ZengaTV has 7.5 million users and gets 65 million video views month-on-month across different channels. It has more than 100 TV channels and more than 10,000 movies available on its platform.
He said the company will also focus on expanding its brand presence to increase userbase.
"There is a huge potential in the mobile TV space and at Zenga, we are looking at tapping that opportunity... We are focusing on increasing our marketing and branding activities," Joshi said.
He added that the campaign will focus on digital and print medium but did not comment on the investment details.
The company on Wednesday launched a special Ramadan channel with LIVE view from Mecca. The exclusive channel explains the relevance and the practices observed during Ramadan and will cater to the cultural and lifestyle needs of the Muslim community.
