Los Angeles: He was called a "jackass" by US President Barack Obama and now rapper Kanye West has been labelled "disgusting" by his predecessor George W Bush. West had famously said that, "George Bush doesn`t care about black people," in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the former President is still angry about the allegation.
During an appearance on `The Today Show`, Bush said that he was horrified to learn that the popular artiste had criticized him during a 2005 telethon to raise funds for the victims of the disaster, which devastated New Orleans, Louisiana in August the same year. "He called me a racist. I didn`t appreciate it then. I don`t appreciate it now. It`s one thing to say, `I don`t appreciate the way he`s handled his business`. It`s another thing to say, `This man`s a racist`. I resent it, it`s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency," Bush told host Matt Lauer. The `Stronger` hitmaker had received a backlash for interrupting country singer Taylor Swift`s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Obama became a part of the controversy when he called West, a "jack-ass" during an off-the-record conversation with CNBC`s John Harwood. Studio workers who overheard the comment, then transmitted it across the world through the micro-blogging website Twitter. PTI
