New Delhi: A document of address proof is so relevant that one literally remains without an identity without it.

One cannot have a PAN Card, Passport, Adhaar Card, Ration Card. If one doesn't have a proof of address, it also becomes tough to have phone, gas, electricity and water connection to your house.

Now, you can get an address proof from your local post office in these simple steps:

Step 1. Send a speed post or registered letter to your house. Once you have received the letter, take the letter to the post office.

Step 2. Go to the post office and meet the head of the post office and take a form for making an address proof by paying Rs 10.

Step 3. You will have to submit this form along with the fee of Rs 240, two colour photographs( in white background), blood group details, and proof of your Permanent Address proof.

Step 4. The post office will then carry out verification of your address, and thereafter in two months time, you will receive a coloured Id Card, which you can use as a Residence Proof or Id Card.

Step 5. This ID Card will be valid for 3 years. It cab be renewed at the cost of Rs 150. In case the card gets lost, you can get it a duplicate done by paying Rs 100
