New Delhi: This is the time of the year when retailers start preparing to free inventory that didn't sell, and make room for new stock for the oncoming season.

Here is a list of items that you don't have to lap up at the next opportune time, and rather wait for the discount sale to happen soon:

1) Electronics items

The inventory switch for electronic products happens around February and March. Consumers can expect to see discounts in the 25 percent range on large Appliances like Air Conditioners, Televisions, Washing Machines, Refrigerators. 

2) Exercise equipment and gym memberships

This is the time when consumer of health services and fitness freaks plan out to work on their New Year resolution, and gyms and sporting good stores are eager to help you keep your promise to yourself.

This is the time that local gyms begin offering  for new membership discounts and retailers offer good deals on fitness purchases-- large and small.

GymTrekker, India’s first online portal to consolidate health and fitness solutions on a single platform—has also gone online with the Big Fitness Sale with the theme of  “Merry Fitness this Christmas.”

After successfully hosting the fitness sale from December 25 to 29, GymTrekker plans to launch the sale again in the New Year in January, offering memberships for over 500 fitness centres in Mumbai, apart from the fitness equipment and health supplements.

Around 500 fitness centres including Talwalkars, YFC , Powerhouse , Gold's Gym, Planet Health and Mickey Mehta  were offering monthly deals for flat 99 and quarterly deals starting at Rs 999 as part of the sale. The yearly memberships were offered at discounts upto 50% across various locations.

 3) Kitchen appliances

Home items are a general focus of January sales, and this means discounts on kitchen appliances.

4) Video games

Retailers will need to start making room for new releases they'll see at the international annual fairs like Toy Fair and Comic Con.

5) Winter apparel

The winters have been not bone-chilling in the North as usual. That means retailers could be having quite a bit of winter wear in stock that didn't sell as planned. So may not just get discount, but can expect great discounts on winter clothing the oncoming sale.

Air Conditioners

Don't wait until July to get an air conditioner. Do it now and save big.

Most of these sales have already begun and are likely to continue throughout January.
