Sensex down 113 points in early trade

Sensex down 113 points in early trade Mumbai: Extending losses for the third straight session, the BSE benchmark Sensex on Wednesday fell by 113 points in early trade due to sustained selling by funds amid a weak trend in Asian regions.

The 30-share barometer, which had lost over 118 points in the previous two sessions, fell further by 112.82 points, or 0.58 percent, to 19,452.10, led by losses in stocks of consumer durable, auto and information technology sectors.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 26.45 points, or 0.45 percent, to 5,887.65.

Brokers said sustained selling by funds amid a weak trend in Asian regions mainly influenced the trading sentiment here.

In the Asian region, Japan's Nikkei Index was down by 0.51 percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index 0.84 percent in early trade Wednesday. However, the US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.02 percent higher on Tuesday.
