New Delhi: Though many domestic carriers announced major slash in the price of air tickets since the beginning of this year, the cancellation charges of the same might annoy air travellers.
Jet Airways has announced a hike in its domestic air ticket cancellation charges, depending on the class of travel that the passengers choose.
As per the new announcement by the company, the lowest economy air fare tickets will be non-refundable. However passengers have to shell out Rs 2000 for cancelling ticket prices a little above the lowest fare slab. While the upper economy ticket cancellation would now cost Rs 1,000, premium class or business class ticket cancellation charge will range between Rs 250 to Rs 500.
Recently state-run Air India and private carrier Jet Airways announced the hike in fuel surcharge on flight tickets by up to Rs 150. The fuel surcharge has been revised upwards by Rs 150 for travel above 1,000 km and Rs 100 for travel up to 1,000 km.
The increase has been affected from the second fortnight of this month.
Domestic air traffic in the first two months of this year fell by 3.57 percent compared to the same period last year, with number of passengers flying remaining more or less stagnant.
Overall, the number of passengers carried by all domestic airlines in January and February was 100.23 lakh as against 103.95 lakh in the corresponding period the previous year, thereby registering a minus 3.57 percent growth, the latest official data showed.
