New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a status report on the coalgate probe before the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope.
Filing the report, the CBI also pleaded the apex court to modify its order whereby it restricted the investigating body from sharing its probe information on the coal scam with any government agency.
Furthermore, the CBI also sought modification of the apex court order directing the agency not to change the probe team without its approval in coalgate case.
Earlier in May, the apex court laid options before the agency in regards to the investigation in the ongoing coal block allocation scam wherein the SC said that it would allow the CBI to continue to investigations on its own and not with any other government agencies.
Observing that the investigating agency had many masters, the SC asserted that ‘the CBI has become a caged parrot speaking in master’s voice’.
