Mumbai: Once lovers, Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor will star together in Ranbir’s best friend Ayan Mukerjee`s next film very soon. Speculations were on about the casting of the film. There were talks about Ranbir’s ex Deepika Padukone agreeing to do the film. Then Anushka Sharma’s name had cropped up. But finally the cast has been decided for the film and Katrina Kaif has agreed to star opposite her ex Ranbir.
According to sources in the industry, Ayan was going back and forth about who to cast in the film. As Ranbir`s relationship with Kat had soured post break up, there were doubts about Katrina agreeing to do a film with him. Ayan, who is on friendly terms with Katrina, was eager to cast her opposite his buddy Ranbir but couldn’t do much due the strained relation between the two.
Sources have also revealed that Deepika Padukone was never in the running, even though she is very close to the director. The source reveals, even though Ayan is keen on making a film with Dips and RK this isn’t the one. He just happened to tell someone about it which led to confusion.
Meanwhile, Anushka had shown much interest in the project and being Ayan’s friend expressed her desire to work with RK-Ayan team. But things didn`t workout and Ayan went back to his original choice Katrina.
She has been finalised after a recent meeting between the three of them. This will be their third film together after `Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahaani` and `Rajneeti`.
Let’s hope sparks fly again between the two during the making of the film. Who knows, maybe they rekindle their off-screen romance as well.
