Chennai: The National Thermal Power Corporation's 1,900 MW power plant at Vallur in Tamil Nadu would be commissioned by March 2011, an NTPC official said here today.
NTPC and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board have entered into an agreement to set up NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd to set up the plant, with both having an equal share in the project.
"It will be commissioned in March 2011", NTPC Director (HR)R C Shirvastav told reporters here.
He admitted that the project was delayed due to various reasons and hoped that it would be commissioned next year.
"Before commissioning, it is usual for projects to get delayed. We need to cover it up. We hope commercial operation will start next year", he said.
