Chennai: Jailed former AIADMK general secretary V K Sasikala‘s husband N Maruthappa, who was admitted to the Liver Intensive Care Unit of a Chennai-based hospital, still remains critical, according to reports.
Maruthappa is suffering from various diseases of the liver along with lung congestion and kidney failure, according to ANI.
The Gleneagles Global Health City, in a health bulletin released last night, said that his condition remains critical. However, he has not been put on the ventilator.
It is to be noted that Sasikala is currently lodged in a Bengaluru jail in connection with her conviction by the Supreme Court in a corruption case.
She is also under scanner over the mysterious death of the former chief minister of Tamil Nadu J Jayalalithaa and is likely to be investigated by a committee headed by former Madras High Court judge in this regard.
The committee was formed by the Tamil Nadu government to probe the conditions leading to the death of Jayalalithaa.
C Sreenivasan, the Forest Minister in the Tamil Nadu government and a senior AIADMK functionary, had earlier confessed that they lied to people of Tamil Nadu about Jayallaithaa's health in order to prevent any panic.
He also admitted Sasikala was the sole person who was allowed to visit Jayalalithaa in the hospital.
