New Delhi: Simple, plain exteriors of trains could be a thing of past soon, as Indian Railways is considering selling consolidated media rights to companies for branding the entire train.

As per The Times of India report, in order to mop up its non fare and non freight revenue, Indian Railways will allow big corporate players to advertise both inside and outside the train bogies and stations on a long-term basis, and is expected to get approval of the railway board next week.

The public sector transporter plans to raise around Rs 2,000 crore in 'nonfare' revenue.

The branding will include setting up huge LED screen advertisements at stations, platforms and foot overbridges leading to station areas. The branding rights will be offered through bidding in a phased manner, starting with Rajdhani and Shatabdi services.
