Deccan Chargers

It is an IPL team which does not have beautiful faces like Preity Zinta, Shilpa Shetty or Shah Rukh Khan to glamorise it; nor does it have any ‘icon player’ to symbolise itself with, yet they most easily are the toughest of the opponents to conquer.
Here is one team, which believes in doing all the ‘talking’ on-the-field and the only thing that speaks for it is its rumbustious composition.
Led by the former Australian great, Adam Gilchrist, Deccan Chargers boasts of names like Andrew Symonds, VVS Laxman, Chamara Silva, Chaminda Vaas, Nuwan Zoysa, Herschelle Gibbs, Scott Styris, Dwayne Smith and Fidel Edwards.
Owned by the Deccan Chronicle group, the Deccan Chargers have always maintained a low profile when it comes to off-the-field activities, unlike other teams which have always been loud enough to make their presence felt much before a tournament starts.
They won the second edition of the Indian Premier League in style, with Gilly hitting the ‘sublime-form’ button just at the right time.
Where on one hand it has the experience of Gilchrist, Laxman, Silva, Vaas and Gibbs; on the other, it also has the youth, energy and exuberance of RP Singh, Pragyan Ojha and Rohit Sharma (also the vice-captain of the team).
