Diamond Eagles

The Diamond Eagles are the more consistent domestic cricket team of South Africa in recent seasons. This young side is the Pro20 runner-up of South African domestic cricket. Although they are unlikely to make any impact in the Champions League T20 as they don’t have any currently-contracted South African international players in their team, they would surely fight it out.
Their batting is heavily dependent on the captain and former Proteas batsman Boeta Dippenaar and wicket-keeper Morne van Wyk. Morne van Wyk’s talent is not unknown to Indian fans as he played some superb knocks for the struggling Kolkata Knight Riders in the last edition of IPL. Apart from the two, they have no big names to be proud of.
Though cricket pundits are not ready to give them a chance, team captain Dippenaar believes that they can spring surprises in the Champions League.
Before coming to India, the Eagles invited former pace great Alan Donald in their coaching camp to train the pace rookies. They have also taken help of former India and KKR captain Sourav Ganguly to learn the nuances of playing in India.
