New Delhi: Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim survived an injury scare after he was hit by a nasty bouncer from Ben Stokes in the first innings of the second Test against England at Mirpur.

Rahim, 28, took the blow in the 53rd over of the first innings when Stokes produced a back of length delivery, and the ball crashed on the batsman's helmet.

The skipper fell on the ground even as England players gathered to ascertain Rahim's condition. The scene reminded the tragic incident involving Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes.

The match got interrupted with Rahim needing medical attention, and support staff even readied themselves to stretcher off the batsman.

But a brave Rahim, who was playing in his 50th Test, decided to carry on after a thorough check by the team physio.

England lead the two-match series 1-0 after their thrilling leading win at Chittagong.
