The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 is all set to witness a newly named Delhi Capitals, following the decision to replace the original name: Delhi Daredevils, as announced during an event on Tuesday.

The decision was announced by owners: GMR Group, JSW Sports and will be further accompanied by changes in the logo and colour of the uniform.

There are further measures expected to be undertaken in the coming days with reports linking the franchise to a complete revamp.

At the same time, 'Delhi Capitals' is hardly an original choice considering the presence of a team with the same name in the UBA Pro Basketball League.

"We wanted this name to mean something to each and everyone from Delhi," said Parth Jindal, the director of JSW Sports during the ceremony.

"This auction, we target players based on their availability first. All permutations and combinations need to be tried and tested. Shreyas Iyer will continue to lead the side this season," he added.

However, the club is expected to persist with Australian Ricky Ponting as the coach, having recently appointed former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif as assistant coach.
