New Delhi: Delhi Daredevils all-rounder Chris Morris blasted 38 runs off just 9 balls with the help of four fours and three sixes against the Rising Pune Supergiant to help his side amass a mammoth 205-run against the Ajinkya Rahane-led outfit.
Though Morris' knock got overshadowed by Sanju Samson, who scored 102 with the help of eight boundaries and five sixes, it was the South African's whirlwind knock which wrote IPL history.
Morris' blistering knock not just earned Delhi its first victory of the 2017 IPL season, but also earned himself fastest ever innings with a minimum of 25 runs in the history of IPL.
He thus set the record for highest strike-rate in an innings (min 25 runs), beating two South African players, Albie Morkel and AB de Villiers.
Here's is the list of players with highest strike rates in an IPL innings:-
|AB de Villiers||31||8||3||3||387.5||RCB||Warriors|
|AB de Villiers||41||11||5||3||372.72||RCB||MI|
Morkel was the previous holder of this record, smashing 28 runs off just 7 balls with a strike-rate of 400 percent against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 5, while De Villiers had scored an 8-ball 31 against Pune Warriors.
Morris helped Delhi amass 45 runs in the last two overs of the innings, bowled by Aussie Adam Zampa and Briton Ben Stokes.
