On Gautam Gambhir's birthday relive his 2007 T20 World Cup winning knock against Pakistan

New Delhi: Fans rejoiced Gautam Gambhir's comeback in Indian jersey after he was included in the final Test of the 3-match series against New Zealand.

Gambhir might have been absent from the Indian cricket roster for a while but there was a time when he one of India's unchallenged pick to open the innings in ODIs and T20s.

The Delhi born batsman who was born on 14 October 1981, was India's best performer in the 2007 T20 World Cup final win against Pakistan.

Gambhir's 75-run knock often gets unmentioned with MS Dhoni drawing majority of the credit for the victory for his decision to make Joginder Sharma bowl the final over the match. But, the 35-year-old's contribution deserves even more credit considering after him, Rohit Sharma's innings of 30 runs was the highest total by an Indian batsman.

Yusuf Pathan, Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni himself had failed to perform with the bat against the Paksitani bowlers.

The left-hander was the backbone of Indian team in both world cups victories – World T20 against Pakistan in 2007 and 50-over World Cup against Sri Lanka in 2011.

Gambhir 97-run knock against in that final is also shown in the video.

His contribution towards India's most glorifying matches cannot be forgotten.
