New Delhi: Spinner Imad Wasim took career-best figures of 5/14 to help Pakistan secure a comfortable nine wicket victory over West Indies in the first of three Twenty20 Internationals.
The world champions batted first and were restricted to a low total of 115, with Dwayne Bravo top scoring with 55 runs. Pakistan, in return, chased down the target with 34 balls remaining.
Watch the highlights of the match here:
The under-par performance of Windies players can be judged with the fact that Jerome Taylor was the only other West Indies batsman to reached double figures having scored 21 off 21 balls.
For Pakistan, Babar Azam anchored the chase with an unbeaten 37-ball 55, while Khalid Latif remained unbeaten on 34 off 32.
Opener Sharjeel Khan was the lone wicket to fall in the Pakistan innings. He got out for 22 runs. (READ: 5-star Imad Wasim helps Pakistan beat West Indies by 9 wickets in 1st T20I)
Man of the match was Imad Wasim who became the first Pakistan spinner to take a five-wicket haul in T20Is. But is not first Pakistani to take 5 wicket haul in T20. Before him Umar Gul took 5 wickets against New Zealand.
After the victory, Pakistan captain Srfaraz Ahmed said, "The players have responded really well. We've focused a lot on fielding and positive body language. We're using Imad Wasim as a strike bowler and he's done well so far. The other spinners have supported him well. We want to play attacking cricket, the mindset is always to take wickets."
