REVEALED: Why BCCI paid Ravi Shastri more than current coach Anil Kumble

New Delhi: Head coach of the Indian team is rated as the best job in world cricket.

The reasons for the same are quite simple. A candidate gets to test his mettle amidst sustained pressure and is paid extremely well for it.

It has now come to light that former Team India director Ravi Shastri performed his duties without any monetary benefits for more than a year.

The richest board in the world however cleared Shastri's dues, which were in the tune of Rs 7 to 7.5 crore, later.

According to a report in the Times of India, current India coach Anil Kumble earns Rs 6.25 crore a year from the BCCI.

The difference between the remunerations of the duo is surprising. But there a reason behind it.

"Shastri was paid more than Kumble because he was also doing the IPL commentary," a source told TOI.

Earlier in the year, Kumble beat Shastri in the race to become India's full-time coach.

The BCCI offered the former India leg-spinner a one-year contract that ends next year.
