Shane Warne backs Glenn Maxwell, insists he should be considered for all three formats

New Delhi : Australian great Shane Warne came out in support of under fire Glenn Maxewell and insisted that he should be considered for all three formats of the game as he's a real match winner. Maxwell recently found himself in the middle of controversy when he was penalized for making comments about his teammate and Bushrangers skipper Mattew Wade.

Questions have been arising over the exclusion of Glen Maxwell from the Chappel- Hadlee series against New Zealand in which Australia won the first ODI by 68 runs. Warne urged that Australian selectors should consider their decision, and must get him to play. He said that Australian team must be benefited from the all round talents of Maxwell considering the upcoming India- Australia series in February.

In support of the Aussie all-rounder, Warne said, "Glenn Maxwell is a super talent and I`d like to see him in Australian colors in all forms of the game,"quoted as saying by news.com.au.

He further added, "If there`s a spot for him, if he`s making runs, get him in.

"The mercurial all-rounder has his sights set on earning a place on Australia`s Test tour of India in February-March, and he could be a feasible candidate if the selectors decide to go with a fifth bowling option in the final XI".

Considering the upcoming India-Australia series, Warne insisted that Maxwell could prove to be very handy on Indian pitches. "He`s going to play some ridiculous, stupid shots, but you`ve got to take the good with the bad because out of 10 games he plays, he`ll probably win you two off his own bat," Warne concluded.

Australians are due to play four Tests in India starting from February 23 in Pune where first test will be played. Followed by matches in Bengaluru (March 4-8), Ranchi(March 16-20) and Dharamsala (March 25-29).
