Unbelievable: Mohammad Kaif predicted dream debut for Kuldeep Yadav on the eve of Dharamsala Test

New Delhi: It emerged, Mohammad Kaif had predicted Kuldeep Yadav's dream debut on the eve of the fourth and final Test against Australia in Dharamsala.

Kuldeep became the first chinaman bowler to represent India in Test cricket, and went on to tale four wickets on Day 1 of the match to restrict Australia to 300.

But a day before the match, nobody gave the 22-year-old a chance of playing the match. With Virat Kohli's participation still in doubt, the Indian camp called up Shreyas Iyer as the cover for the captain.

Then, there was news of Mohammed Shami replacing Ishant Sharma.

As it turned out, Kohli decided to skip the match, and, to the surprise of everyone, Kuldeep was handed his debut.

Strangely for Kaif, he not knew about the imminent debut, but also about the impact hos former team-mate would make.

A day after Kuldeep's dream debut, Kaif told TOI, “If a player has match-winning ability and skill to take wickets, then you must pick him. It’s a masterstroke by Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli. Indian attack needed that, especially it being the Test that decides the outcome of the series. Great pick, that’s why I tweeted in the morning that he will be the man of the moment.

By the way, this is what he tweeted on Friday

Kanpur-born Kuldeep played under Kaif in the Uttar Pradesh team.
