Virender Sehwag wished Bishan Singh Bedi on his birthday: Here's how his tweet backfired

New Delhi: Batting great Virender Sehwag wished Bishan Singh Bedi on his 70th birthday on Sunday, but the spin legend got something to clarify.

Sehwag hailed Bedi as a poet with cricket ball, and called him a "cheated batsmen with a cherry in hand". (WOAH! Virender Sehwag comes up with a new name for record-breaking Ravichandran Ashwin)

But the birthday seemed uncomfortable with with the word "cheated" and wasted no time to clarify.

Regarded as one of the best spinners India has produced Bedi played 67 Test matches, taking 266 wickets at an average of 28.71.

The outspoken cricketer also captained the national side in 22 matches, including the infamous fourth Test of India's West Indies tour of 1975-76.

Bedi objected to West Indies fielding four fast bowlers, with both Anshuman Gaekwad and Brijesh Patel getting hurt during the first innings. And India's second innings lasted only 28 overs, with five batsmen absent hurt. (REVEALED! The reason behind Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag's absence from 500th Test celebration)

And he controversially conceded an One-Day International match against Pakistan in 1978 after Sarfraz Nawaz resorted to bowling bouncers when India needed 23 runs from 14 balls to win the match at Sahiwal.

Operating with his slow left-arm orthodox bowling, Bedi is still India's highest wicket taker in first class cricket with a grand total of 1560 scalps.

After his retirement, he went onto coach the national team.

Meanwhile, Sehwag has been in brilliant form on social-media lately, where he has become the toast of the nation as a result of his witty birthday wishes to cricketers. (GENIUS! On six machine Chris Gayle's birthday, Virender Sehwag kills it yet again)
