MCD polls: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan claims Congress workers “shot at" him

New Delhi: In a shocking incident ahead of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Elections, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan on Tuesday night claimed he was shot at thrice.

The incident took place near Batla House Chowk at Jamia Nagar in Okhla.

Talking to media, Khan alleged that Congress workers, including candidate Shoaib Danish, barged into the AAP's office and started to scuffle.

Khan said while he was talking to a sub-inspector regarding the incident, three rounds were fired at him, but he escaped unhurt.

The AAP MLA said the shooting was "a desperate act by the Congress supporters".

The incident happened post Tuesday midnight outside the AAP office when both the parties were campaigning in the wake of MCD polls.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Baaniya said a call was received at 12.10 am regarding the clash between the workers of the two parties at Batla House Chowk after which the police rushed to the spot.

"Another call was received from AAP MLA Amanatullah about the firing at 12.57 am," the DCP said.

He said that no one was injured in the firing and both parties blamed each other for it.

"Both parties were asked to give written complaint but no complaint was received from them. Action would be taken as per their complaints," he added.
