New Delhi: The festival of Janmashtami that marks the birth of Krishna is around the clock and this year it'll fall on August 25.

Krishna who is considered an absolute incarnation of lord Vishnu took birth at midnight on the eighth day of Krishna paksha, in the Hindu month of Shravan.

Krishna Janmashtami which is also addressed by various names such as Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Srikrishna Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp and show in Mathura which is Kanhaiya's birthplace and also in other parts of the nation.

Here we bring you 5 things that one must keep in mind while commemorating Krishna's birth:

Worship Timings:

Keep the timings in mind while conducting Janmashtami pooja, many conduct pooja in evening or morning. But, remember as lord Krishna was born at midnight so the worship ceremony must start then itself!

Food:

You don't have to impress lord with too many dishes, but just some special meals served with love will be enough to reach the lord. Like Krishna said- ''If you offer Me with love, a leaf, flower, fruit or water, I will accept it.''

Clean utensils:

Make sure whatever utensils are used to either prepare meals or those used in serving the devotees must be clean and not used for any sort of non-vegetarian food.

Avoid purchasing Krishna's attire from unknown places:

During festivity, many shopkeepers sell old clothes as new ones simply to earn lucrative profits. So, watch out when you go for Janmashtami shopping.
