London: A new survey has revealed that a fifth of British adults go two days or more without brushing their teeth.

Nearly a quarter only brushes once a day rather than the recommended twice, and two-thirds admitted it takes them less than 60 seconds, according to the poll by the Dental Smile Clinic in Bristol.

One in 30 men said they never brush their teeth unless their partners tell them to.

Only 67 percent of Brits believe their oral hygiene is up to scratch, while 2 percent say they would prefer to have a tooth pulled for free by the NHS than go private and pay to save it, the study revealed.

“It’s worrying that people neglect their teeth,” a daily quoted study organizer Dr Neil Gerrard as saying.
