Arnie ran for Governor for ‘fun and to ‘freak everyone out’

London: Arnold Schwarzenegger has revealed that he did not even tell his wife before announcing his run for the post of the Governor as he had no prior plans for joining the race until he thought it would be “funny’ to “freak everyone out”.

According to Vanity Fair, the 61-year-old former Governor of California also revealed that on his way to make an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ to promote the third ‘Terminator’ film, he decided in an impulsive moment that it would be a good laugh to break the news live on TV.

“I thought about it but decided I wasn’t going to do it. I told Maria I wasn’t running. I told everyone I wasn’t running. I wasn’t running,” the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

“This will freak everyone out.

“It’ll be so funny.

“I’ll announce that I am running. I told Leno I was running. And two months later I was governor,” he added.

Schwarzenegger announced his candidacy for the 2003 recall election on 6th August 2003 on an episode of ‘The Tonight Show’, won the elections, was re-elected in 2006 with 55.9 percent votes and left office in January this year.
