The festival of colours is back! Vibrant colours, delectable sweets and lots of masti marks this festival. So what are the celebs doing this Holi? We at Spicezee went and asked few of the celebs from the television industry as to what their plans are for this year’s Holi.

Your plans for this Holi?

I will be spending Holi with my family. Will have a very simple celebration.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

I usually go to my Nani’s place and spend some time with her.

Has Holi celebrations changed over the years?

The ideology of celebrating Holi has changed. It has become very dangerous. I like the old school way of playing Holi. Earlier it was family oriented wherein the whole idea was to be sober and gentle. Nowadays it has become an opportunity for most men to get too touchy.

Just going to stay at home.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

It’s been years since I have celebrated Holi. I met with an accident when I was very young on Holi and since then I have a paranoia celebrating the festival.

Given a chance, which Bollywood celeb would you like to play Holi with?

I am often lost in my own space. So would like to play Holi with my thoughts!

Has Holi celebrations changed over the years?

Yes the whole idea of celebrating festivals has seen a sea change. Moreover, I believe it is very important for us to keep the festive spirit alive through the year and not just restrict them to a few days alone. We must unite and help spread peace and happiness across the world.

Your plans for this Holi

I will be attending a Holi special party where most of my friends will be present. I will have blast this Holi, which is also my first Holi in Mumbai. I will make ‘Parghari’ laddu which is a patented delicacy made on Holi in Rajasthan. I will also prepare something called ‘Geva ki Janvai’ and ‘Badaam ka Sharbat’ which is not bhang but somewhat like it, and gets you equally high. So, I will treat my friends with some of these special recipes.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

Holi is very special to me as I make it a point to visit Kolkata every year. I have my entire family there. My mother teaches me how to make special dishes and I love learning them. Though I am not fond of cooking but I love cooking on Holi.

Has Holi celebrations changed over the years?

I think the changes are for good. Nowadays the lifestyles are such that a person seldom gets a chance to relax and unwind. So festivals like these help a person rejuvenate. The over-the-top celebrations do make one feel that life is a lot happening so it’s good. And we need to constantly keep reminding our future generation about the traditions.

What are your plans for Holi?

My wife and I are planning to go party hopping this year to celebrate Holi with varied circle of friends and family.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

Usually, every year I celebrate it with my parents, my wife and friends because we all love this festival.

Which celebrity you would like to play Holi with?

For the past few years we have been going to Shabana Ji’s party (actress Shabana Azmi) but this year it will be quite a few parties I will be attending.

Has Holi celebration changed over the years?

Yes, of course! I think over the years people have become more conscious about playing a safe Holi. People now insist on clean, hygienic and harmless Holi with good quality colours. They don’t play with dirty colours anymore. People are conscious of skin problems and rashes that bad quality colours give. They want to be able to tell the world the next day that yes we had a good Holi, a safe Holi.

Your fav Holi song?

‘Rang Barse bheegey chunar wali’ continues to remain the classic favourite because of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha ji.

Your plans for Holi ?

My daughter who is two years old will probably have her friends over so it will be a kiddy Holi with some water balloons and colours.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

I am not a very Holi person, I am not fond of it and I am allergic to gulaal so I always avoid it. I have played enough Holi on television though.

Has celebrating Holi changed in trend over the past years?

Ya, it has changed totally which is why I can’t relate to it anymore. It’s become too commercial. I don’t understand the concept anymore and people over do it just for the sake of it. In the end, to each his own. Given a choice I would just relax at home with my family, that’s how I like it really.

Fav Holi song?

‘Rang Barse…’ I love Amitabh Bachchan and there cannot be a song better than it for the occasion of Holi.

Your plans for Holi ?

I will be shooting in Kolhapur. So no plans as such for Holi this year.

How do you usually celebrate Holi?

Although I am not too much a Holi person, my husband (actor Varun Badola) likes to play Holi. We usually celebrate it with our family and then go over to a friend’s place later.

Has celebrating Holi changed in trend over the past years?

Well, even earlier there were certain people who celebrated the festival in a rash way. So it’s been a mix of both worlds always. It depends on a person’s upbringing. People tend to do what their parents do so kids learn things from their parents only.

Which celebrity would you like to play Holi with?

Never thought of anyone! Umm…maybe Jeetendra in his white clothes. Would be fun to celebrate the festival of colours with him.

I will be with family on Holi. It’s too hot here in Mumbai. So playing a watery Holi will keep me cool.
