Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee discusses plans to beautify Kolkata
Kolkata: Plans to have a stretch of greenery from Eden Gardens to Babughat on the bank of the river Hooghly was discussed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who wants to beautify Kolkata on the lines of London.
A powerpoint presentation was made by Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) for developing the Hooghly riverfront, officials said.
Construction of subways, beautification beneath the Bankim Setu and adoption of eco-friendly schemes were also discussed at the meeting, they said.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Railways Mukul Roy, state PWD minister Subrata Bakshi, Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim, Tourism minister Rachpal Singh, Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee, besides top officials of the Army and other agencies.
